Self catering accommodation in Bodinnick sleeps 6.
Features include: • Garden • Pet friendly • Internet Access • Fishing near by • Detached Property • Cottage Sleeps 6
Accommodation overview: With superb views over Fowey’s natural harbour, this detached and double glazed Cornish cottage has been recently refurbished throughout. It is set into the hillside just off the road which runs through Bodinnick village and down to the ferry slipway and is directly behind the picturesque Old Ferry Inn.
It is approached by a short unpaved footpath which winds between the cottages. A gated path and short flight of steps lead up to the main entrance at first floor level. The inverted accommodation takes every advantage of the expansive river and sea views with the open plan kitchen, dining area and living room all benefitting from the lovely estuary vista. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and entertaining.
The living room leads out onto a south facing patio and pretty hillside garden which gets sun throughout the day. On the same floor are two bathrooms; one shower room and one bathroom, both with hand basins and WC’s. The hallway has an airing cupboard and coat hooks. The sleeping accommodation is in the older 17th Century part of the cottage. On the first floor are two of the bedrooms. A children’s room with 2ft 6in bunks, and a double with hand basin reached via two short flights of stairs. On the ground floor are two further bedrooms, one with a 5ft double and hand basin and one with twin 2ft 6in beds.
There is electric central heating. Due to the narrow original staircase in the older part of the cottage, this property is not suitable for the less mobile.
There is parking for two medium sized cars at a private garage about 50 yards from the property, and it is also possible to park on the road in the upper part of the village. The Bodinnick car ferry runs regularly from 7am to 7pm across to Fowey where there is a wide selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.
The cottage is in the heart of Du Maurier country – Daphne herself grew up at the house at the bottom of Bodinnick hill - and it is in short driving distance of The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the picturesque fishing ports of Mevagissey, Polperro and Looe. There are plenty of local walks from the relatively easy Hall Walk to Polruan to the more challenging clifftop path along to Polperro and beyond.
