The village of Longborough famous for the opera promenade concerts in the summertime is quintessentially English with a community run shop and tea room and local pub. Longborough is located midway between the market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. The Cotswold Way passes through for keen walkers along with some great cycling. For enthusiastic gardeners there is Batsford Arboretum and garden centre. A visit to Daylesford farm shop and restaurant is within easy access. Further afield Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon are both a great for a day at the races. With many local festivals throughout the year including food literature and walking. The accommodation offers ONE bedroom 1 king-size with TV and en-suite bathroom with bath with shower over and WC. Lounge/kitchen/diner: open-plan with woodburner and TV/DVD. Accommodation overview: Wick Court, is like nothing else we have ever seen, in terms of a holiday property! This handsome and unique building is situated at the end of a mile long lane, tucked within a bend of the River Severn, has its own moat and is surrounded by 140 acres of stunning English countryside. It is believed that the Court has a history dating back to c1480, but of particular interest is the fact that there was a Royal visitor, Queen Elizabeth I, who stayed here when she was forced to leave nearby Berkeley Castle. Today the property is run as a charity (Farms for City Children) providing children with the opportunity to 'learn about where food comes from, the importance of caring for animals and the land and the value of working co-operatively as a team.' (quoted from the Farm for City Children website). The property is unusual but it is ideal if your party is large, plus all proceeds go back to the charity (see below) which is for an excellent cause. Old School Cottage is a small, detached stone cottage in the unspoilt Windrush Valley, a few miles from Burford.
Asthall is an ideal holiday location, being an idyllic secluded hamlet with a village pub and another inn on the river by Swinbrook, a ten-minute walk away by road or across the fields.
Closer to the cottage in Asthall, just down the lane, is the historic Manor house and church. Asthall Manor was the childhood home of the Mitford sisters.
Oxford is a 25-minute drive away.

Accommodation overview: Mere Coach House is a simply stunning! A large, detached house located down a long drive on the edge of the premium (and quite famous) Cotswolds village of Fairford, it offers just about everything you could wish for when looking for an exclusive holiday home. Inside, the owners have created a very welcoming and stylish yet quirky home with large rooms throughout and four fabulous bedroom suites, each with bathrooms. From our perspective, we found the kitchen/diner the real heart of the house, warm and inviting with its huge Aga, and enjoying superb views across the private gardens and paddock beyond, both of which are perfect for children (and adults of course!) to play ball games. This is one for the family, it is also one for friends too given it's superb layout and location in this historic village. There is little not to like in this house, so we're quite certain you will have a fabulous and memorable holiday here.
