Accommodation overview: Quietly situated recently renovated, attractive cottage. Upton is a small village on the River Bure within The Broads. It is an ideal location for nature lovers, being the home of Upton Broads and Marshes, and located on the edge of the wildlife trust where there are lovely waterside walks and fishing. Boat hire is available at nearby South Walsham, as well as at Wroxham and Potter Heigham. The village is ten miles between historic Norwich and the bustling seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, which offers a lovely sandy beach as well as a traditional seaside atmosphere. There are many other opportunities for days out close by, offering something for all ages. The village has a pub with further facilities available in Acle, two miles away. Watts Cottage was built over 150 years ago and is a characterful property containing many original features whilst retaining modern facilities. The quiet village of Sculthorpe lies just two miles west of the historic Norfolk market town of Fakenham, with all its local amenities, racecourse and quaint cinema. Sculthorpe Mill, just a half mile walk, is a charming 18th century inn set on the banks of the River Wensum, offering good food and a cosy bar. The RSPB's Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens, host to BBC's Spring Watch series, is close by with superb gardens and bird life.
The Norfolk coast lies 10 miles north with the extensive sandy beach of Wells with picturesque beach huts, dunes and cafe. The Holkham Estate, beach and the bustling market town of Burnham Market are a short drive. Many popular coastal villages are readily accessible offering seal and wildlife spotting trips, opportunities for windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. This area has some excellent cycle paths and quiet roads. Local cycle hire is available.

Clock Cottage is a pretty, comfortably furnished, traditional brick and flint end-of-terrace cottage in the charming north Norfolk village of East Rudham, in a quiet road.
Built around 1815, the cottage was once the home of Mr Higgins, a local clock maker in the mid-Victorian period. The clock on the outside of the cottage dates back to this time.
The village boasts a good butchers, a small shop selling newspapers and bread as well as a lovely gift shop and tea room serving yummy cakes, one of the most visited shops in Norfolk. The excellent "gastro" pub called The Crown is owned by celebrity chef Chris Coubrough. The village tennis court, a playing field and bowling club are nearby. For keen walkers the area is ideal for enjoying the coastal paths. Sculthorpe nature reserve with excellent birdwatching is 5 minutes away and there is also excellent birdwatching at both Titchwell and Holme nature reserves.
East Rudham is located between Kings Lynn and Fakenham and is well placed for those wishing to explore the pretty market towns of Burnham Market, Holt and King's Lynn as well as the North Norfolk coastline - the sandy beaches of Wells, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car. The market town of Fakenham is a 10 minute drive with its good selection of shops, eateries and pubs. Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day can be very educational. Stately homes abound with the deer parks of Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall, whilst Sandringham Estate is within easy reach.
