Accommodation overview: This Grade II Listed property has the perfect harbourside location- stunning sea views on all 3 floors to the rear, while the front door opens onto the High Street of this popular fishing village of Staithes. Ash Cottage is a delightful 200 year old fishermans cottage which has recently been restored. The lounge, completely renovated in 2010 now has exposed stonework and a cosy wood burning stove, and offers stunning sea views from the dining table. The first floor bedroom is spacious and with views of the sea, and a guest area on the second floor has a day bed and an additional TV/DVD (but with a steep staircase and no stairgate- young children please be careful!) The twin room is accessed via the guest area. Bench seating to the rear overlooking the sea is perfect to enjoy at anytime of day and the sandy beach is a mere 5 minute walk away, as are the pubs serving food, shops, cafes and Staithes Heritage Centre and Captain Cook Museum where you may learn about the life and voyages of this famous seaman who spent some of his childhood as an apprentice in Staithes.

Accommodation overview: Wren Cottage is located in the pretty village of Aislaby commanding an elevated position on the northern side of the Esk Valley in the North York Moors National Park with Whitby just three miles away. The cottage has been recently renovated and has been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. It is an ideal cosy cottage for couples who like the outdoors, with some excellent pathways and cycle tracks very close by. Hillside Farm is a detached farmhouse set in beautiful countryside in the heart of the North York Moors National park with stunning views of the sea and Whitby a few miles away. It acts as the lodge of an actively managed moorland estate.
The property is two miles from Sleights where there is a pub and hotel (both of which serve food), a fish and chip restaurant, a very good butcher/delicatessen, general store (usually open until 10pm) and local bakers.
The Yorkshire Esk, located approximately 2 miles away, is one of the most prolific sea trout rivers in England and is the only salmon river between London and the Tees. Salmon and Sea Trout fishing is available on the best beat by special prior arrangement with the owner (who also owns Hillside Farmhouse) from 6th April to 31st October.
The area benefits from exceptional walking with the Coast to Coast and Cleveland Way paths nearby. Hillside Farm is a good base from which to enjoy the Yorkshire coast with Whitby, Sandsend and Robin Hood's Bay all nearby. Mountain biking at nearby Dalby Forest is world class. Grosmont, the North York Moors Railway and Goathland (of 'Heartbeat' fame) are all within easy reach.
