Accommodation overview: Swan Lane House is an absolutely stunning country house that fulfils all of those classic ideals that one looks for when imaging a Cotswold cottage. A period building that externally retains all of the character that one could imagine, mixed with some of the most imaginative furnishing and style of any property we have seen make this a real Cotswold tour de force. The owners (who clearly have superb taste and judgement) have created a contemporary holiday cottage that is likely to be one of the finest in the area. Situated down a quiet lane moments from the infamous Burford High Street and with a large garden to the rear we are sure you will enjoy this as much as we love it!! A beautiful and historic ferryman's cottage, the site of which is mentioned in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which is situated directly on the banks of the River Thames, adjacent to the Oxford University Rowing Club.
This unique property, which sits on Edwardian brick arches, overlooks its own private riverside garden and pontoon. On the other side of the river is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a working dairy farm.
The house is on the southern edge of the town of Wallingford, just over an hour's drive from London, 15 minutes from Henley and 20 minutes from Oxford.
Until c.1950 the house was occupied by the Wallingford ferryman, who transported horses, people and freight across the river at the point where the River Thames tow path changed sides. The raised outhouse was the ticket booth associated with the ferry.
Wallingford is a pretty medieval market town situated along the banks of the River Thames. The centre of the town is a five minute walk along either the riverside or quiet roads, and has a picturesque town square with a 17th century arcaded town hall, a number of historic inns and restaurants, three ancient churches, the Corn Exchange theatre and cinema, a large Waitrose and a summer outdoor swimming pool. You can also enjoy the Cholsey and Wallingford Steam Railway, or a walk around the ruins of Wallingford Castle, once one of the largest in the country but largely destroyed by Oliver Cromwell.
There is a town museum and Agatha Christie's home and boathouse nearby. Midsomer Murders was filmed in the town. A bus service runs to Oxford and Reading and the stop is only a few minutes walk away.
You will find the house a restful and fun place, surrounded by the quiet of the Thames, with only its water wildlife for company.

Accommodation overview: Tall Trees Cottage, is a traditionally built stone holiday cottage situated in a elevated setting on the edge of Stow on the Wold with beautiful views of open countryside. Even though it is short walk from the centre of this very popular Cotswolds market town, the property enjoys a super view overlooking a 4 acre paddock with ponies and chickens. (You can actually get some free-range eggs if you wish in your welcome hamper on arrival.) The property offers modern accommodation over two floors, with two ensuite bedrooms on the lower level, which may appeal to those with limited mobility. Externally the cottage, which is attached to the owner's home, has an enclosed garden to the front, along with a private side courtyard. Accommodation overview: Rectory Cottage, Alvescot is a truly classic Cotswolds cottage built in traditional stone under a Cotswold tile roof, but presented in a beautifully cool and contemporary style that makes it a stunning option for groups or families of up to 10 people. Set overlooking fields and surrounded by period Cotswold properties this delightful holiday cottage offers a very high standard of self catering accommodation. Internally, the owners have created a stunning home, which while contemporary it retains a wealth of period features that give a real sense of warmth and 'welcome'. The accommodation, which is set over three floors and with good size rooms throughout, has many period features through out. Including flagstone flooring, beams and mullion windows but of particular appeal is the kitchen which is, as they say, 'where the heart is': a gorgeous light room with a vaulted ceiling and Aga. When we visited the property we came away with the wow factor very much in our minds, we're confident that you'll feel just the same when you walk through the door too!
