Accommodation overview: Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Accommodation overview: An ideally located holiday property that is spacious, comfortable and close to the beach Southwold Denes - Southwold Denes stretches from Gun Hill to the harbour's mouth and acts as a vital sea defence for the town. Suffolk Coast and Heaths (to whom our customer's £1 booking donation goes) are working with several agencies to restore and maintain the important area. It is the home of skylarks and little terns (please be careful not to disturb the nests) and the habitat of sea holly, sea pea and bird's foot trefoil to name a few. Accommodation overview: Furnished to a very high standard in the lovely village of Westleton. Westleton is a pretty village midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, with the coast at Dunwich only two and a half miles away. Centred around a large green, Westleton is one of the most popular places to stay on the Heritage Coast. It is an ideal base for the beach or for Minsmere, as well as the coastal heaths and forests. There are two good pubs, a restaurant and well-stocked village store/post office - all in the village centre. Much of the area around the village is accessible open heath or mixed woodland. The Garden House has been furnished to a very high standard whilst retaining its charming rural appeal. Character features include beamed ceilings (please be aware that ceilings and doorways are lower than normal), an inglenook fireplace and a lovely hand-painted kitchen. Located in the small village of Thornham Magna, the property offers holiday accommodation for four guests, which lies adjacent to the Thornham Estate, now a Country Park with a vast network of walks through a variety of countryside together with cafe, restaurant and photographers' gallery. Also the well-known and popular thatched pub, the Four Horse Shoes, is less than five minutes' walk away.
Diss Golf Course is approximately five miles away and the historic town of Eye is only four miles away.
The cottage is also only one hour 40 minutes' drive from London and there is the well serviced train from London to Diss.
