Accommodation overview: Orchard Cottage (Cheshire) details
Orchard Cottage is one of two Cheshire Hunt holiday cottages in Rainow on the Cheshire border. Orchard and Damson (CH003) are the result of a barn conversion completed in 2008. The original building, dating back to the 1850s, is situated next to a local landmark, the former Cheshire Hunt Inn from which the Hunt used to ride. Described by the Peak District Authority as a property of architectural interest, the barn is located on a small track which winds its way up through the valley, which forms part of the well-known walkers' path, the Gritstone Trail. The luxury self catering retreat has been individually furnished and has its own unique character. Enjoying wonderful views over the open countryside the cottage is within walking distance of the old mill village of Bollington, with its pubs, restaurants, local shops and parks.
The holiday rental provides an excellent base for visitors to reach many of the attractions in the Peak District such as the well-known spa town of Buxton and the underground caverns at Castleton. A short distance away from a number of attractions in neighbouring Cheshire, holiday guests have many places to visit including three National Trust properties; Tatton Park, Dunham Massey and Lyme Park. Manchester with its excellent museums, shops and restaurants is a 45-minute drive away and the picturesque Roman city of Chester is an hour away for those who wish to travel a bit further afield.
Orchard and Damson Cottages have their own separate facilities but are available for hire together for extended family holidays to accommodate 11 guests. Manchester Airport is 30 minutes' drive away and Macclesfield train station a 10-minute drive, which provides good train connections and a regular two-hour train service to London. A games room with full size table tennis and pool tables is available for the use of the occupants of both Orchard and Damson Cottages and is located within the grounds of the barn.
