All cottages are within easy walking distance of footpaths leading to the castle and the stunning 500 acre grounds. Dating back over 900 years Leeds Castle set on two islands on the River Len once a Norman stronghold owned by six medieval queens and used by Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Latterly owned by Lady Baillie the last private owner of the castle who restored the castle to its current splendour. It became a weekend playground for the rich and famous London s high society . Leisure facilities: guests have use of the leisure facilities at the neighbouring Mecure Hotel including a swimming pool. All guests staying in the cottages will be able to access the castle and grounds subject to availability for their entire stay including Knights Realm adventure playground somewhere for the children to run and play. The yew tree maze with its underworld grotto of shells and mythical beasts. Climb Maidens Tower and enjoy the falconry displays. Amenities: ample parking. With superb views over Newtown Creek and the Solent in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Myrtle Cottage is a beautifully presented and refurbished cottage, standing as one of a pair with its own enclosed garden.
Newtown was established in the 13th century as a centre of trade and shipping, and the capital of the Isle of Wight, and subsequently become a 'rotten borough'. Its medieval town hall is of archaeological importance. There is lots to do around this wonderful part of the Isle of Wight. Yarmouth is a lovely historic sailing town, with a square with pubs and restaurants serving great food.
There are many scenic walks around the Newtown Creek, which has a bird hide to observe the area's wildfowl and other wildlife.
There are many bays, coves, beaches and picturesque villages with tearooms as well as tourist attractions including The Needles Park (with chairlifts, boat rides, coloured sands, lighthouse, amusements and glassmaking). Also within easy driving distance are Chesil Pottery, Calbourne Water Mill, Tennyson Down with its spectacular views, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House and Cowes Harbour. The nearest sandy beach is a 10-15 minute drive from the cottage and the nearest pub is the New Inn at Shalfleet, about 1.5 miles away (known to be one of the best pubs on the island).

Church Elms Farm as mentioned in the Observer, is a Grade II listed period detached farmhouse set in four acres of land on the outskirts of Woodchurch village. Surrounded by a cottage garden, it has an enclosed barbecue area and open fields. The farm has a large pond that is fenced off, also a newly surfaced tennis court and a games room with a pool table and table tennis facilities.
On the other side of the village there is a Rare Breeds Centre.
The farmhouse is just four miles away from Tenterden town centre and seven miles away from the Cinque Port of Rye. Ashford town centre is eight miles away and the mainline station provides a service to London Charing Cross and Victoria, with the International Passenger Terminal providing access to the Eurostar.
