Only minutes from the A30 which runs through the heart of Cornwall connecting East and West Cornwall makes this the perfect base for guests looking to enjoy the wider county from the popular attraction of Lands End England s most westerly point and St Michael s Mount to the surfing beaches that litter the North coast at Newquay and Watergate Bay to the more sedate traditional Cornwall on the South coast. The pretty coastal towns and villages on the North coast are well worth the short drive. Port Isaac and Padstow are approximately 20 miles. From Padstow quayside you can enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many cafes or bars including TV chef Rick Stein s bistro or restaurant. There is so much to see and do in this glorious area of North Cornwall including the National Trust property at Lanhydrock and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Accommodation overview: Peter's Nest Cottage is a delightful Cotswold cottage set within a clearing called "Peter's Nest Wood", also known mysteriously as Hell's Throat!! It is the original cottage of the Woodwells farmstead (marked on an 1847 map) and is a location particularly popular as a meeting place for sociable pheasants! The cottage is at the end of a track and is best described as a truly peaceful location, ideal for those who like to get away from it all. Internally the cottage has an open plan feel on the ground floor and bedroom upstairs set within the eaves. The cottage is located on the famous Owlpen Estate, which has long been recognised as one of England's most romantic early manor houses and one which Prince Charles describes as one of his favourites. ACCOMMODATION: The accommodation is presented in a simple and traditional style that would make the cottage perfect for getting away from the city. Downstairs, the property is entered through the welcoming Kitchen, which leads down into the Living Room - a room that has wonderful views across the woods and into the Owlpen valley, woodburning stove. The cottages are situated on the owner s 200 acre working dairy farm. The sandy beaches and surfing waves at Westward Ho! Woolacombe and Saunton are all within easy reach by car. You can hire bicycles and cycle traffic free on the disused railway track the Tarka Trail and stop for a drink or bite to eat at one of the many watering holes on route. The property is 3 miles from the Atlantic Highway giving access to popular attractions including The Big Sheep The Milky Way and Dartington Crystal. The popular market towns of Bideford and Torrington with their famous pannier markets are also close by offering good pubs shops and restaurants. The villages of Monkleigh Buckland Brewer and Littleham are a short drive away and all offer good village pubs. Farm activities: by arrangement guests are welcome to enjoy and play on the farm after a guided tour by the farmer and even help feed the calves and watch the cows being milked.
