This holiday retreat has wonderful panoramic sea views all the way to Looe Island and beyond which can be enjoyed from the balconies, gardens and elevated decking area.
The rental cottage has 4 bedrooms accommodating 9 guests and has a large sea view timber decked viewing terrace on two levels.
There are good local day-to-day facilities in Downderry including a general store, Post Office, traditional Inn and Blue Plate Restaurant. Looe Island View holiday cottage is in an ideal location to enjoy an outdoor break in Cornwall. For those who enjoy walking, the coastal paths provide plenty of opportunities with nearby Seaton, Looe, Talland Bay and onto the 13th Century fishing village of Polperro.
Downderry in Cornwall has a Marine Conservation Society recommended shingle beach and the vast sandy beach at Whitsand Bay is nearby. A perfect location for a golf break in Cornwall, good leisure sporting facilities are within easy reach including the 18 hole coastal golf courses of Whitsand Bay which also boasts an impressive pool, sauna and restaurant.
The ancient Cornish ports of Looe and Polperro are reachable in fifteen and twenty minutes respectively and the city of Plymouth is within half an hour. Wonderful National Trust houses and gardens are abundant in the area. The nearby Mount Edgecumbe Country Park provides 800 acres of unspoilt walking and leisure opportunities in this part of Cornwall. Just a few miles away you'll find the wild wonders of Bodmin Moor. Looe Island View is the perfect starting point from which to explore some of the world famous attractions in Cornwall such as The Tate at St Ives and The Eden Project.

Accommodation overview: With uninterrupted panoramic sea views along the coast from Rame Head in the east to Dodman Point westwards, this cosy little single storey cottage stands just 50 yards above Downderry beach. One of a small row built for the old coastguard station in the early 1800s, the cottage retains much of its simple period character with white washed walls and a delabole slate roof.
The terrace has a few steps leading up to the gated entrance at one end with a right of way fronting the cottages, leading to the stable door which opens to a flagstoned entrance porch. The original storm doors lead to an inner hallway and to one side is a sitting room with a sanded wood floor, comfortable leather seating facing the stone and slate fireplace and stunning sea views from the bay window right across to the Eddystone lighthouse in the distance.
Leading off the lounge at the rear are two modest sized bedrooms, a double and one with 2ft 6in bunk beds, both with wash basins. On the opposite side of the hall, there is a newly fitted kitchen/dining room with modern units, a pine dining table with chairs and a spectacular view far out to sea. To the rear of the kitchen, there is a further double bedded room with a wash basin and a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and electric shower over the bath.
The back door leads out from the bathroom to a small sheltered courtyard with a rotary line and a useful laundry room with a 2nd sink. The level front lawn extends to the edge of the low cliffs with delightful views overlooking the sea and beach below. There are boundary fences between the cottages (although young children will need to be supervised) and a 3ft high sturdy wire fence on the seaward side. There is a private parking area for one large or two small cars parked end on end about 20 yards away.
The beach with sand and rock pools at low tide is just a minutes walk down the hill, and all the village amenities are very close at hand with a pub, local shops, post office and restaurant. Golf and diving are available in the area, and the village of Seaton is a 20 minute walk along the coast.

Lookout is a contemporary split level detached house overlooking the beautiful southern Cornish coastline. Situated at the gateway to Cornwall, a mere 15 minute drive from Plymouth, Downderry is a small village and although there are few shops they do offer everything for that essential purchase. There is also good eating in 'The Blue Plate' Restaurant, Waves bar and other local pubs and restaurants.
Guests can walk down to the beach which is approximately a five minute walk and is a mix of sand and shingle. Set amongst breathtaking views, this beautiful self catering accommodation sleeps six people in three spacious bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms provide stunning panoramic views of the sea. The front door opens into a welcoming reception lobby leading to a cloakroom and large open plan kitchen. diner and sitting room. The seaward view spans across Rame Head to Eddystone lighthouse and Looe Island. The living area is perfect for a holiday in any weather. In summer, the living space can be extended to incorporate the decking and fully enjoy the view by opening the bi-folding doors. Whilst in winter the storms can be watched rolling in across the bay, with the comfort of the open fire. A perfect retreat to suit all!
The garden is a south facing sun trap with wonderful views and is terraced with steps leading down to a small lawn area. It is perfect for enjoying the natural landscape and ambience, whilst listening to the sea. There are shaded areas within the garden for those who like to relax out of the direct sunlight.
