Cosy and welcoming, the cottage offers an abundance of period features including exposed beams, stained glass to the entrance and a bay window in the lounge where you may sit and watch the world go by. The cottage is centrally heated and the living flame fire in the lounge is warm and inviting. Situated on the Georgian street of Frenchgate, now a cul-de-sac, the cottage was once a sweet shop but has been lovingly restored and refurbished to a particularly high standard. A reconstruction of it when it was a Victorian grocers shop (and the birthplace of John Fenwick founder of the department stores that carry his name) can also be seen in the Richmond Museum. A side entrance from the rear hall offers a short cut into the town centre, which is particularly handy for the shops.
